SC: Appointed Government Officials are not Resigned after Filing CoCs

The Supreme Court ruled today that appointed government officials are not deemed resigned upon filing of certificate of candidacy. Voting 8-6, the Supreme Court granted the petition filed by election lawyer Romulo Macalintal asking the Supreme Court to strike out a portion of the Commission on Elections resolution considering as resigned appointed officials who filed their CoCs.
